What I was missing was the traffic to the press release in the first place. It is all well and good putting out a press release, but if no body reads it there is no point.

Your main aim is to get listed in the number 1 position in Google news for your targeted keyword. This will mean that you show up on the first page of Google for your keyword.

Take a look at a search for ‘SEO’ paying particular attention to the 4th search result down the list ‘News for SEO’.

Doing a quick search the keyword SEO is searched for roughly 250,000 times each day, so far that particular result has been there for 2 days. That’s 500,000 views and only for the keyword SEO, this listing also comes up for most other SEO related keywords. I would estimate it more like 2,000,000 searches over the 2 days that this listing has come up. So basically that PR/Blog Post is going to get bucket loads of traffic.
